As brides to be continue to look for increasingly unusual venues for their big day, the Swan at Streatley is offering wedding ceremonies on a pretty Oxford College barge moored alongside the hotel.

Also licensed to hold civil wedding ceremonies in several of its other function rooms the four-star hotel situated by the River Thames on the borders of Oxfordshire and Berkshire, is offering two packages – the Water Lily and Petunia.

Couples can marry at the hotel, in a ceremony conducted by a registrar followed by the wedding breakfast. Alternatively they can choose the hotel for the reception.

The Magdalen College Barge can accommodate a seated wedding ceremony for up to 40 guests, with the hotels landscaped gardens providing an ideal setting for a cocktail reception. There is also a choice of other rooms holding up to 100 guests.

Starting at £70 per person, the Water Lily includes a welcome drink of Pimms or Bucks Fizz, a three course wedding breakfast, half a bottle of wine per person, a glass of house champagne for the toasts, the services of a toast maker, flowers on each guest table, printed menu and place cards.

The Petunia at £80 per person also includes, a welcome drink of Pimms Royale or champagne, a four-course wedding breakfast, a choice of petit fours, an oval flower arrangement for the top table and silver candelabra on all tables.

Extras for the happy couple include, superior overnight accommodation, a bottle of rose champagne and strawberries, full English breakfast with scrambled egg and smoked salmon.
